Chalk it up

In preparing for the wedding I knew I wanted to have chalkboard signs around the venue.
I don't know what the allure is about them but I have loved them since seeing them hung in my favorite little coffee shops all through college.

After making so many for the wedding I found how much I truly enjoy making them. I think it is the fact that you have to stop looking at the internet, put down your cell phone and just create.
Growing up I took all kinds of art classes but somewhere along the way I fell away from it.

It is so easy to get caught up in things that truly don't matter and forget to just stop and enjoy life.

For me art is a beautiful way to enjoy life.
I can see God in it as well. He created everything.
And we were made in His image, so it is only natural that we would also create.

Since the wedding is over I have decided to continue in creating chalkboard signs.
This is a way not only to bring in a little extra money, but also to bring glory to God through a gift and passion He has given me.

I just recently opened my Etsy shop but I will be adding many more Chalkboard signs to it as quickly as I can get them done.
Here is my latest one for this Christmas season.

I have also made it available as a downloadable print that you can frame yourself.

Please visit my Etsy shop to see all of my designs like the Holly Jolly one below.
A sweet new friend, Mandy requested this one to be made custom for her Christmas card photos & as a decoration for home. Her cards turned out soo cute didn't they!?!

Our Wedding Quilt

Our guest quilt has ended up being one of our favorite things from the wedding.
It is so sweet to be able to curl up under it with my Sweetheart and remember all those who came to celebrate our special day with us. As fast at the day actually went by, I love being able to sit and remember it through the photos and the sweet names & words on our quilt.

My incredibly sweet boss, Lissa, actually gave us the quilt as a wedding gift.
She had made one for a friends wedding and I fell in love with it when I saw it.
It is made from the Odds & Ends fabric panel from one of our Moda designers, Julie Comstock. The sweet sayings such as "Capture the Moment", "LOVE", "Faith", & "YOU & ME" made it perfect for the wedding.

I was so excited when I found this Singer sewing machine at an Antique store in Roanoke and knew it would be great to display the quilt on for signing. The table was originally just the color of the wood but my sweet fiance sanded it down and painted it an antique mint color for me. : )

Having grown up in my mom's quilt shop it was incredibly special to have this wedding guest quilt.

I remember during the height of the crazy wedding planning Steven and I would often look at each other and say, " I just wish we could watch a movie!"
Well now that the wedding is over, we take every chance we get to just curl up on the couch and watch a movie together... under our lovely quilt.

Quilt Market

So proud to work for Moda United Notions!

A big CONGRATS to Holly Hickman for winning best booth this year with her "my favorite COLOR is Moda" theme.
It was adorable with colored paint sticks & paint buckets all around.

Having worked at my mom's quilt shop before coming to work for Moda, I personally agree that Moda IS my Favorite Color!

Bridal Photos

Well, just as I suspected... The wedding planning flew by and now here I am a Mrs!

Despite not being able to blog during the crazy planning, I intend to blog about the details post wedding.

Here are some of the bridals shot by Mr. Ryan Price. He is a fantastic photographer. He is based in College Station and actually leads worship at the church I used to go to when I was at Texas A&M.

Since I grew up with a mom who loved to quilt that has become a part of who I am and I wanted to incorporate that into the bridals. My mom, aunt and niece came trucked it to College Station to help me set up for the photos. They hung the quilts in the trees for me. Notice the first quilt is the Wedding Ring quilt.

There is just something so magical about this old white chapel.

This is one of my favorite quilts. My mom bought it for me at a Quilt Show we did in Paducah, KY one year. Our booth was set up next to the sweetest couple who was selling antique quilts. This is where my love affair began. The whole show I eyed this soft pink quilt. The very last day my mom bought it for me.
You know that softness that only an antique quilt has? Just nothing like it.

This old turquoise truck was too cute to pass up a photo with.

I love all the cute chalkboard signs I have seen lately and decided to make my own.
Being 28, I have prayed for my husband for many many years. I used to sing the lyrics to Etta James song 'At Last' and dream of the day that MY love would come along. Little did I know, he had been there all along. The Lord's timing is perfect and I am so thankful for the sweet man He has given me.

I had such a fun time having my bridal photos done and think they turned out really sweet. Thank you Ryan for not making me do "the sultry bride" look! ; )

"Sew" Sweet Wedding Ideas

Growing up with my mom owning a quilt shop and now working for Moda myself I really want to add a sewing touch to our wedding.

Here are a few fun ideas I have found..

Engagements pics incorporating a quilt!

Wedding invites in a fabric sleeve

Sew-in-Love Banner (absolutely love this!)

Have guests sign our wedding "quilt" instead of wedding book and then make the quilt post wedding.

A few sweet embroidery hoops... of course it will be Sarah & Steven...
I promise, I don't even know who Charlie is! ; )

Anyone have anymore fun ideas?

He Proposed!

On Monday March 19th, my sweet Steven proposed! : )
Full story to come when I have chance to breath!

LIV, laugh, love MODA BABY SHOWER

A few weekends ago my friend Heather and I had the pleasure of throwing our best friend, Jessica, a baby shower and it turned out just lovely. One of the sweetest ladies at her church, Cindy, offered for us to host the shower in her beautiful home.
We all had so much fun eating, chatting, making onesies and celebrating baby LIV!

FREE Printables Below!

HORS D'OEUVRES...
We began the party with some hors d'oeuvres & treats...
My lovely sister brought Grape Meatballs, Spinach Dip with Pita Chips and Devonshire Tidbits (yeah, I didn't know what they were either but YUM).
Heather's mom brought the world's most amazing fruit salad.
Katie and Raven brought delicious petit fours & cookies.
I made Brownie Truffles.

ONESIES...
Then we moved into the kitchen for the Onesie Making Party. I was blown away at how wonderful everyone's onesies turned out. I printed off a few examples but for the most part everyone came up with their own designs.

CAKE...
After Onesies, we cut the delicious cake and opened gifts.
I had seen the pink layered cake on Pinterest and fell in love so I had to make it for the shower.
I used a vanilla cake for the 3 bottom layers and just used varying amounts of red food coloring. The top layer I made strawberry! YUM!

BABY WISHES
While everyone ate their cake we filled out a Baby Wishes card for baby Liv.

Baby Wishes PRINTABLES are available on my ETSY Shop...

APPLIQUE TEMPLATES...
I have provided all of the templates you will need for your own shower.
