At Quilts by the Bay we are so excited for the Fall! 

Not only because Quilt Festival is right around the corner with all of its 

wonders and inspirations, but also because we have a very special guest flying all the way from the Netherlands to share her paper-piecing expertise with us.

That guest is the one & only, Miss Jacqueline DeJonge of BeColourful! 

We have all fallen in love with her exquisite designs and magnificent use of color 

 and now we actually have the opportunity to learn her secrets to making these beautiful quilts!

This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity you won't want to miss!!!

We are hosting two workshops with Jacqueline.

Quilts on a Line

I found this lovely photo on the Rusty Hinge blog and found myself daydreaming...

What is it that makes quilts strung out on a line so very magical? 

This truly would be my perfect summer day... 

Resting in that beautiful hammock with a book by Francine Rivers ('Redeeming Love' I'm sure!), 

with some John Mayer playing in the background while sipping some of my favorite new tea.   

Alas, I work on in my little office.

Beautiful Quilt Displays

Quilts bring so much warmth and love to a home and it is so

 important that they not be hidden away. 

They should be shown off and displayed in such a way that 

everyone can feel the love that they represent. 

I have found so many beautiful ways to display them that I would have a hard time choosing one. 

For the shabby chic lover, you simply cannot beat this antique blue re-purposed cabinet. 

This antique white cabinet is so soft and 

This antique barn red makes these quilts pop. 

Sweet for a bedroom or entryway. 

Love how this black shows off these striking quilts. 

Gorgeous with all that wood. Love the chicken wire instead of glass. 

Absolutely stunning cabinet commands attention. 

Can you not just feel the warmth these quilts bring to this room? 

And I will always love quilts displayed on a ladder.  

WOW. This will definitely get your attention.

You Hexy Little Thing

If you haven't noticed yet, Hexagons are everywhere!

I think I first fell for them when I saw this Sexy Hexy "Love" Quilt from Amy Butler a while back...

It is actually a FREE pattern you can download here!

Hexagons just make the happiest quilts...  

and a few vintage quilts (because I LOVE vintage quilts!)

I found this cute Double Hexagon pillow on Pinterest and the girl who 

designed it has a fantastic tutorial on how to make it... 

 She uses 1 1/2" strips so you could save some time by using a Moda HoneyBun
OR make it a bit bigger with a JellyRoll.

 Now that Moda has the new Honeycomb precuts I think I just may have to make something!

Bridal Photos

Well, just as I suspected... The wedding planning flew by and now here I am a Mrs! 

Despite not being able to blog during the crazy planning, I intend to blog about the details post wedding. 

Here are some of the bridals shot by Mr. Ryan Price. He is a fantastic photographer. He is based in College Station and actually leads worship at the church I used to go to when I was at Texas A&M.

Since I grew up with a mom who loved to quilt that has become a part of who I am and I wanted to incorporate that into the bridals. My mom, aunt and niece came trucked it to College Station to help me set up for the photos. They hung the quilts in the trees for me. Notice the first quilt is the Wedding Ring quilt. 

There is just something so magical about this old white chapel. 

This is one of my favorite quilts. My mom bought it for me at a Quilt Show we did in Paducah, KY one year. Our booth was set up next to the sweetest couple who was selling antique quilts. This is where my love affair began. The whole show I eyed this soft pink quilt. The very last day my mom bought it for me. 

You know that softness that only an antique quilt has? Just nothing like it. 

This old turquoise truck was too cute to pass up a photo with. 

I love all the cute chalkboard signs I have seen lately and decided to make my own. 

Being 28, I have prayed for my husband for many many years. I used to sing the lyrics to Etta James song 'At Last' and dream of the day that MY love would come along. Little did I know, he had been there all along. The Lord's timing is perfect and I am so thankful for the sweet man He has given me. 

I had such a fun time having my bridal photos done and think they turned out really sweet. Thank you Ryan for not making me do "the sultry bride" look! ; )
