One day

At 27, seeing all of your friends get married and have children can be disheartening. I have to hold tight to what I believe and know that my heavenly Father has beautiful things in store for me. Whether those things are marriage and children or a life on the mission field, whatever it is, I know it will be better than anything I can ever imagine.

"What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him"
 1 Corinthians 2:9

I will continue to pray for my future husband and dream about those special moments.

Here is a beautiful wedding video that makes my heart happy.
True Love Always Wins from Stillwater Cinematography on Vimeo.

All of these emotions were stirred up on Saturday night when I got to help set up this scene for a proposal in downtown Dallas. It was so sweet and simple. A dozen white roses with one single yellow rose.  Red rose pedals scattered all around. And my favorite... A Bible belonging to both the future bride and groom. He had even incuded her soon to be new last name in it.

He also went through and circled passages like this...

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."
Ephesians 5: 25-27

It was exciting to be a part of their special night.

I'm curious.
What was your proposal like?
How long had you been dating?
How did you know he was THE one?
Are you still waiting for him?

  1. Hi Sarah Beth :)
It will definitely be worth the wait! I married relatively young (23) and wanted children right away. After years of waiting and treatments and pain and tears, we adopted our first child when I was 32. Now at almost 50, when all my same age friends are grandparents, I have 4 terrific children - the youngest being 9. They were definitely worth the wait ;) When you feel down, dream your dreams of a beautiful wedding and a wonderful, wonderful husband and you will know in your heart, it will be worth the wait! It also helps to share your feelings - just like you have today. Sending a great big cyber hug to you!

  2. Oh sweet Sarah!! Yes, the Lord's timing is perfect, and as you concentrate on being the woman he wants you to be, he will absolutely be shaping the perfect man for you!!! I love that you are praying for him, even though you don't know who he is yet! --- and think of the joy when you can say to his face "I have been praying for you for years!!" That song, I knew I loved you before I met you.. that song has special meaning to my husband and that's because (even though it wasn't released yet!) we said that to each other after our first date.. we had both been praying for God's perfect choice for us!! We met when I was in my early 20's so a little bit earlier than you, but it was one of those moments!! I worked for Youth for Christ and we had a revival meeting in a small country town that I had never heard of before, I was asked to go along to sing a few songs. Well blow me down, when I got up and started to sing, if this boy didn't get right up and walk out of the church.. I certainly did notice him and his big brown eyes, ... but I was quite upset that he had walked out during my performance... (Hard to sing for the Lord when someone has been that rude!) When we went into the hall after church for supper he was sitting there in the kitchen on one of the benches and I was determined to ignore him - but our eyes met and bam! I was gone... We barely spoke but a few words (he was very shy in those days), but I went home the next morning and I told my parents that I had met the man I was going to marry. He wrote me three letters during that week and then turned up to visit me on the weekend and asked me out to dinner... He told me on our first date that when I got up to sing and he saw my face, HIS face went numb, then when I started singing his heart started racing so fast he was having trouble breathing and so he went into the churches kitchen, sat under the speaker and listened to me sing.. (which is where he was sitting when I found him after the service)... well, Long story short, he drove 8 hours every single weekend to see me for 3 years ..then he proposed and moved up to the city to be nearer to me whilst we planned our wedding.. It's been 27 years and I can honestly say he loves me more than I could have ever imagined was possible!! ... ohhh... and I love him a little bit too hehehe :)!!!

I want to pray for you too, and for your HTB (husband to be!)! What an exciting time!!
Hugs to you and I am loving your blog!
    Jen xoxo
