Mom Won!

On Friday I asked my Facebook friends to help me decide which project to work on over the weekend. The majority won and I decided to work on my mom's quilt!

My mom actually came into town this weekend so I was not able to get as much done as I had thought but I was so glad to get to spend time with her! We went to the Dallas gift market on Saturday and then had dinner at Gloria's. Yum!
When I did get to work on the quilt I will admit I got a little frustrated while trying to figure out my fabric placement. My kitchen table just doesn't do the trick. And with 3 dogs roaming the house, I really have no other options! I guess I need to consider purchasing a design board. Any other suggestions?

Oh by the way! I did like someone's suggestion to make Pom Pom's on Friday after work so I decided to make a trip to Hobby Lobby just to check out their yarn. I found this adorable persimmon yarn with gold flecks in it. Since I had already decided to work on the quilt I refrained from purchasing 10 additional yarns to make my pom pom garland and just stuck to this one!

I remembered seeing an adorable pom pom key chain at a designer store for about $60! So I decided to make my own! I bought this cute "Free to Be" key chain at Francesca's and then just added my little pom pom to it! Took all of 5 minutes to do thanks to the Clover Pom Pom Maker!

Thank you for your help everyone, I am really glad I worked on her quilt. The Bliss fabric line always brightens my day. And the Pom Pom Key Chain was so quick and fun! Hope you all had a fun and productive weekend as well!

  1. I am glad you picked Mom's quilt, and love the colors, and the key chain idea. As for a design wall, there are some "cheap" alternatives. A friend has a curtain rod that usually holds a wall quilt, and she took some flannel, stitched a rod pocket, and got a dowel for it. She takes down the quilt and puts up the flannel when she needs to see a layout. I took an inexpensive tablecloth and used thumbtacks to hold it on the wall in my laundry room, which is next to my sewing area. It works, and cost under $5. Good luck, and lucky you to work at Moda!
