Snow Day=Sew Day!

Remember when I was trying to decide what to work on a few weekends ago?
Well since we had crazy blizzard weather here in DALLAS today, I decided to make my laptop cover!

I finally got to try out this cool new stuff we got at work called Soft & Stable! I LOVE it! It was perfect because it wasn't so thick I couldn't sew through it but it was still thick enough to protect my computer!

For the front of the cover I used a fabric from the line It's a Hoot by MoMo.
For the back I used a fabric from the new line Sherbet Pips by miss Aneela Hoey who has a great blog!

And here is the back of the case...

The only thing I haven't done to finish this little baby is create a way to keep it closed. I have the little flap but I can't decide if I should use velcro or a button or WHAT to secure it.
What do YOU think? Any fun suggestions?

  1. Very cute laptop cover! I would use a LARGE button of some sort! Maybe something even on the gawdy side!!!

  2. Very cute! How about a magnet? You can get them for purse making in craft stores.

  3. don't do a magnet they are really bad for your computer. A big fat button sounds really cute!

  4. Definitely a magnet. Perhaps you can repurpose the ones you get for free at the fair?

  5. *beautiful* ! I wanna make one too! I would use velcro, and add a pretty 'fake' button for design... button holes are always so hard for me to do!

  7. I would say velcro to keep your laptop nice and secure and personally I would add a lovely big fabric flower made from co-ordinating fabrics from the ranges. But then I love flowers!! The case looks lovely by the way - nice and simple design with beautiful fabrics.

  8. So cute! As much as I hate to say it, velcro is probably your best bet - especially when working with that thickness. Let us know what you decide :)

  9. I love Soft and Stable too! The tab on the end is great. I put a zipper in mine so nothing will fall out.
